Entry: Knitting project dreamin' - Torque Friday, March 09, 2007

The spring Knitty is here, and I am very enamoured of the Torque sweater by Sarah Sumner-Eisenbraun.  Has anyone else been drawn to this assymetrical dream like I have? I love big roomy cotton sweaters like that - not exactly baggy, but not fitted either. She is wearing it perfectly in the photo too - with some kicky tights and a simple short skirt. Very chic. I have a favourite sweater that is similar to this one - has the same shape, in a pinky beige colour, with a zipper on one side of the raglan detail (it can be unzipped to make an assymetrical neckline with a dip on one side). I just love it, and feel sad that it is starting to feel the effects of time.

I have been experiencing a real crafting/knitting block lately, and I haven't really created anything. It's partially being busy, and partially just inertia. I'm hoping to "get my groove back," so to speak , soon. Any suggestions for getting the creative juices flowing again?

I usually search around on the net for interesting new blogs as well. That always does it for me!!! I also re-visit some of my favourites, i.e Knitting Iris. I think that's probably my all time fav! She lives in Montana, in the country. Very natural way of living and it's incorporated in every part of the blog! And there are always books too of course... I just go through my bookshelf and get out my favs!

That pattern is very nice Missy! I can see it on you for sure! I've fallen for a pattern from the new Spring IK. It's a cardi but the two front pieces are knitted differently! It rocks! Btw, have you seen the new issue? I was going to buy it for you but wasn't sure. I know you have trouble sometimes finding it! Let me know and i can get it for you ^_^

When I can't be bothered to make anything, I forget any projects which are half finished, and just start someting new - but it has to be something which you can make in only a few sittings so you don't get demotivated. And then all is well!

Hi Missy! I changed my blog to typepad (not sure if you knew). I know what you mean about a craft block but my problem is I don't have money :(

I think going to inspirational blogs can help. That's when I always feel like making something. Maybe you should knit the sweater and get your creative juices flowing (lol, does that sound weird?)

I agree that Torque is my favorite sweater of the issue. However, I don't think I'll be making it any time soon....the to-knit list is so long already!

When I reach a standstill with crafting, I like to do one of two things:

1. Update my Bloglines list--add new blogs and research projects that others have done. Seeing things that I love, but would have never thought to make myself. Imitation is the finest form of flattery, when it comes to crafting, IMO.

2. I shop. I am the type of knitter who rather than be inspired by patterns, I am inspired by the yarns. I will see a yarn I like and think "wow this would make a great sweater/hat/scarf etc". Seeing new yarns, unique colors and textures also helps me get out of my rut and try something new.

Hope that helps!
